National Oceanography Centre

Enabling environmentally friendly exhibiting

The National Oceanography Centre came to us with a problem; they have several exhibitions a year at which to exhibit but all with varying stand sizes. So, the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton required a way of exhibiting in a flexible way and asked us if we could help. We came up with a modular exhibition stand solution which could easily be assembled and configured for different space dimensions using interlocking panels, focused around a plasma screen presentation. In addition to ultimate flexibility, it's a very environmentally friendly solution as the system simply packs away into small carry cases and can be used time and time again, avoiding the need for bespoke and costly traditional exhibition stands which produce a lot of waste. Fluid also developed the NOC brand, designing the system graphics and straplines. The robust system is now in its tenth year having appeared at over a hundred events – plus when not exhibiting, NOC use it at their headquarters to create and impactful installation to welcome visitors. Supporting the main exhibition system, we have designed and produced a further 16 roller banner systems, which are lightweight and durable.

In addition to the exhibition work, Fluid Design Studio created an A5 brochure for NOC, outlining its key research and development work in partnership with industry. The booklet has been successfully given to delegates at conferences and exhibitions, acting as a leave behind or summary of the organisation for potential partners.
